The Sexton is named not for a founder or a place, but for a vocation -A role within the community.
Keeper of graves. Ringer of bells. A navigator between those who are here and those who are gone. It was said that if you crossed the path of a Sexton on his journey, he would stop and tip his hat to you: another day to live, another moment worth savouring. Thus the spirit of The Sexton.
Life In The Dark
The Sexton is built on contrast. Bright and dark. Smooth and structured. Light, refreshing serves and darker, spirit-forward cocktails. Hidden inside the black bottle is a whiskey full of life.
The Foundation
The Sexton begins with three key ingredients: pure Irish water, 100% Irish malted barley and limitless yeast. Together they create a smooth, characterful Irish single malt with depth and versatility.
Triple Distilled
Distilled three times in copper pot stills, The Sexton achieves a rich yet refined character. The additional distillation creates a smoother, more approachable spirit while retaining depth and complexity.
Shaped By Sherry Casks
Matured in the finest oloroso sherry casks, The Sexton develops notes of dark fruit, toasted malt, spice and soft sweetness. The result is a whiskey with richness, structure and unmistakable backbone.
The Black Bottle
The Sexton bottle is as unique as the liquid it holds. Its lacquered black finish conceals the rich sherry-coloured liquid within, held in the dark the way it rests in cask. The skull and top hat are a nod to The Sextons of Ireland: the custodians of precious things. Open it, and discover the life inside.
Tasting Notes
Nose: At first, honeyed malt, nuts and dark chocolate, followed by a burst of marzipan, allspice and fruits.
Palate: Clean and mellow honey malt to begin, before the complexity unfolds: rich dried spices, nuts and sweet oils.
Finish: A pleasant, gentle wood with honey sweetness that fades slowly.
